Hi folks! Gina here to share my passion of food with you.
Since I was a child, my world has revolved around food. I constantly reminisce on memories of cooking with my Mom and Nonna. Ingredients included everything from dandelion greens picked from the back yard, government cheese and fresh caught seafood just brought into port by my Dad or Nonno.
I still love hearing the stories of the pizzeria my grandparent (father’s side) used to own in Palermo. Tales of cooking and passing travelers that left an imprint on my Dad and his siblings until this day.
I always wanted to be around food. Even in high school – I decided to leave my friends and go to a vocational school where I could enroll in culinary arts. From there, I ventured to Johnson and Wales. I graduated with a AS in Baking and Pastry Arts, a BS in Culinary Nutrition and a hunger to get into food product development.
Don’t get me wrong – I worked the restaurant scene back in my teens and twenties with a great appreciation for every position in the joint that keeps the patrons coming back for more. I miss it sometimes – but I don’t miss the late nights while working the weekends and holidays.
I’ve been in the product development world for decades at this point in my life, and I absolutely LOVE it. I’m proud to tell people I created something that they can purchase at the retail level. This line of work keeps my creativity going and I’m always looking forward to the new flavor trends and cooking methods.
Which brings me here.
I want to share my culinary experiences with the world. I feel that if something can bring me so much joy, why not share that with everyone else?
